Not-for-profit financial cooperatives are owned and operated by its member-owners. Member-owners have a local voice. Each year at the Annual General Meeting member-owners get to vote for those they want to represent them on the Board of Directors and Committees.

While banks and other institutions are primarily concerned with profit, credit unions return all earnings above expenses and reserves to their member-owners in the form of dividends.
